Kind people but very poor management. There's hardly any maintenance, very old/dated rooms.
I love the way the rooms are painted with the faux finishing and leafy touches. Very charming hotel. Dinner was delicious.
The staff were arguing while I waited for my taxi. Also the early morning cafe in leche tasted like last yesterday's.
Outstanding staff and more than accommodating when we asked to leave our bags until our plane left at 11:30 pm. So friendly! Thank you so much!
The art work throughout the hotel was exceptional. The service was good and the receptionists were always helpful. The hotel is only 3 blocks from the city crafts market.
Very kind and helpful staff. They offered to make us breakfast before our 4:30 am departure! Beautiful rooms and lobby with lots of character (wall paintings and frescoes). Good restaurant, although not exactly cheap by Ecuadorian standards (entrees @$10-15). Nice garden, we saw hummingbirds right outside the window while eating an early dinner. Floors are a bit creaky, but that comes with a historic building. Cuarto #3 (a triple) even has a decent bath tub.
The way the walls were painted with birds and flowers. The charm of staying in an older house with lovely gardens in the middle of the city. The breakfasts were wonderful. The staff were friendly.
We used Hotel Cafe Cultura as our "home base" while in Ecuador. We stayed a total of 6 nights before and after trips to the Galapagos, the Andes, and Amazonia. For a nominal charge of $10.00/ bag we were able to store our suitcases, swapping the one we needed for the ones accruing dirty laundry. They also provide a safety deposit box for $10.00 for as long as 30 days. Additionally, they have a wonderful small gourmet restaurant in which we had a wonderful dinner. Hotel Cafe Cultura was our "home away from home."
The hotel is gorgeous and the staff is very helpful. Great food there as well. Lovely sitting area with cozy fireplaces.
The restaurant served excellent food and the staff was very helpful and friendly. The also had internet and wifi.
Friendliness and helpfulnes of staff. Copmfortable and relaxed hotel. Unique decor, character building, central to centre of attractions in Quito. Good breakfast.
We loved the decor, style of bedrooms and overall ambience, particularly the roaring fire that welcomed us on arrival. The staff were all wonderful, polite and helpful and we had a fantastic breakfast too! We´d have no hesitation in recommending this hotel to friends and contacts that we meet during our trip to South America. Katherine & Geoff
The ambience of the building the service in the restaurant
The rooms are small and poky, specially the attic rooms, the noise all night from the street is unbearable, the room was totally lit all night form the street lights, it was impossible to sleep at all The front desk staff was unhelpful and arrogant
The service in the hotel was very good. After checking out, the receptionist offered us a room to be able to take a shower and to relax before we had to go to the airport to take our flight (which was scheduled for 23.30 pm.). Room was very nice, large ánd with bathtub.
The breakfast was ok, but we expected better. The room was also rather noisy (you could literally hear every step the guests from our room above, because of the wooden floors.
I liked the cozy feel of the common areas, and the very friendly and knowledgeable staff. The manned front gate was nice for security purposes.
The room was spartan at best, had no place to sit besides the bed, and had no heat, making it uncomfortable for anything besides sleeping. The bed was incredibly squeaky and the street noise was an issue, both making it incredibly difficult to sleep. I did not think the room was worth the price we paid for it.
Wonderful atmosphere. Great breakfast. Friendly staff. Good location and felt safe in an unknown city.
